![]() Stay tuned for further details on the game, such as Kickstarter updates and release dates, right here at Shacknews. With the Kickstarter launched, fans and players can go back Mina the Hollower now. However, with the Kickstarter, Yacht Club Games has made it clear that fans and backers will also play a role in helping to guide the support and direction of the game. Of course, as always, Mina the Hollower will also have modern sensibilities, such as playing at 60 fps and other such features. Mina the Hollower oozes all of the classic aesthetic Yacht Club Games has been known to produce in beloved titles like the Shovel Knight series and the recent and rather awesome hack-and-slash side-scroller Cyber Shadow. Mina the Hollower will feature a spooky-themed top-down adventure in the vein of Game Boy Color classics, including combat, dungeon-crawling, and puzzle-solving. ![]() It’s described as a “world full of mystery and horror” as players will battle against various creatures and work their way through all sorts of spooky environments, laying various creatures to rest with a variety of weapons and gadgets. In this homage to the Game Boy Color era, players will take on the role of the titular Mina in an 8-bit-style top-down adventure, similar to the likes of games like the original The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening, Oracle of Ages, and Oracle of Seasons. Yacht Club Games announced Mina the Hollower and its Kickstarter during the Yacht Club Games Presents event on February 1, 2022. Yacht Club will be crowdfunding this latest game on Kickstarter, starting today. It looks to be pursuing that pedigree again with the announcement and reveal of Mina the Hollower: a top-down action adventure in the style of classic Game Boy Color games. It never ceases to inject that classic creativity in its games, even while shedding pain points of old game design. It’s a new universe for the Relic Hunters to explore, but they need to get through the Kickstarter campaign first to see it.Yacht Club Games is incredibly good at channeling the old school in all of the new projects it pursues. If anybodys interested they do have a facebook page at Dream Mix, and the kickstarter just went live a couple of days ago. It’s a much bigger and more ornate setup than Relic Hunters Zero was, featuring levels of varying heights and greater opportunities for tactics like firing from cover or raining grenades down on advancing enemies, depending on who you’re playing as. Whether you decide to sink cash into the game or not, though, players can expect a randomized overworld with hand-built dungeons designed to be taken on by groups of up to four friends at once, with a full story campaign featuring unique missions for each character. Free-to-play is normally is cause for concern but Zero was no-strings-attached free and got regular content updates, so the developer has a good track record, plus there’s a manifesto at the site that explains F2P plans a little more clearly. Relic Hunters Legend is the sequel to Relic Hunters Zero, and like its prequel the game is going to be free. The mini-cartoon joins a three-part comic released earlier that set up the plot, making for a fun little multimedia lead-in to the Kickstarter campaign. It’s a bit saturday-morning-cartoon (or mid-afternoon Cartoon Network?) but still a fun way to introduce the characters and their world while squeezing in a bit of game advertising in the middle. Relic Hunters Legend, on the other hand, decided that was boring so made a full four-minute animated short to kick off its crowdfunding ambitions. Kickstarter trailers frequently have the pitch in there somewhere, usually at the end but not always. Trailers are nice and all but they’re usually gameplay clips set to music designed to sell the tone of the game. If yes, Super Dungeon Maker may very well be the perfect game for you Yesterday, rokaplay and Firechick launched a Kickstarter campaign in order to bring the game to the Nintendo Switch (it’s already been available in Early Access on PC for a while now).

If you’re taking a cruise in the Caribbean, be sure to check with your cruise line if a passport card will suffice. That said, states also issue non-driver photo IDs, which are typically cheaper than passport cards. And because passport cards have an RFID chip in them, guards at the Canadian and Mexican borders can grant you access across the borders more quickly. If you don’t have a driver’s license, it could be convenient to buy a passport card. If, for example, you live in South Texas and often drive across the border to visit relatives in Mexico-but don’t otherwise travel internationally-a card might make the most financial sense.Īnd while both passport books and cards can be used as a regular photo ID for anything that requires one (bars, concerts, domestic flights, etc.), a card is much less cumbersome to carry around. A passport card, on the other hand, costs just $65 ($50 if you’re under 16) the first time, and a mere $30 to renew. A traditional passport (also called a 'passport book') is a valid ID for all forms of travel land, sea, and air both internationally and domestically. Your first passport book costs $165 if you’re at least 16 years old ($135 for anyone younger than that), and every renewal is $130. a passport card All three documents are federally compliant identification used mainly during travel. So why would you choose a card? For one thing, it’s significantly cheaper. To check the status of a special issuance passport application, you may either contact your federal travel office or refer to the SIA status check instructions from an official U.S. In short, a passport book can do anything a passport card can do, plus a lot more. If you’re driving there, you can cross the border with a book or a card. So if you’re flying to Canada, you’ll need a passport book. Passport books are 3.5-by-5-inch booklets with blank pages for foreign immigration stamps and visas. Passport books can be used for land, sea, and air travel. Passport books and passport cards have physical differences. With a passport card, you can only enter Canada, Mexico, Bermuda, and the Caribbean-and only if you’re getting there by land or sea. With a passport book, you can go to any country that allows U.S. The two most important differences between a passport book and a passport card involve where and how you can travel. There are also passport cards, which, true to their name, are wallet-sized plastic cards that look a lot like a driver’s license. More specifically, that’s a passport book-and it’s not the only type of passport you can get. Inside are pages filled to varying degrees with stamps from whatever countries the carrier has entered and exited. passport, you probably picture a blue booklet with a cover featuring the national seal below the word passport. Although many programs read and write this information, few (if any) include this level of certification when calculating whether to trust a key. ![]() There are several levels of confidence that can be included in such signatures. A given public key (or more specifically, information binding a user name to a key) may be digitally signed by a third-party user to attest to the association between someone (actually a user name) and the key. Users must also ensure by some means that the public key in a certificate actually does belong to the person or entity claiming it. However, merely making a certificate that is impossible to modify without being detected is insufficient this can prevent corruption only after the certificate has been created, not before. From its first version, PGP has always included provisions for distributing user's public keys in an ' identity certification', which is also constructed cryptographically so that any tampering (or accidental garble) is readily detectable. Simply downloading a public key from somewhere is not a reliable assurance of that association deliberate (or accidental) impersonation is possible. To do so, PGP computes a hash (also called a message digest) from the plaintext and then creates the digital signature from that hash using the sender's private key.īoth when encrypting messages and when verifying signatures, it is critical that the public key used to send messages to someone or some entity actually does 'belong' to the intended recipient. The sender uses PGP to create a digital signature for the message with either the RSA or DSA algorithms. Because the content is encrypted, any changes in the message will fail the decryption with the appropriate key. The latter is used to detect whether a message has been altered since it was completed (the message integrity property) and the former, to determine whether it was actually sent by the person or entity claimed to be the sender (a digital signature). PGP supports message authentication and integrity checking. Only the private key belonging to the receiver can decrypt the session key, and use it to symmetrically decrypt the message. ![]() The session key must be sent to the receiver so they know how to decrypt the message, but to protect it during transmission it is encrypted with the receiver's public key. The message and its session key are sent to the receiver. The symmetric key is used only once and is also called a session key. The message is encrypted using a symmetric encryption algorithm, which requires a symmetric key generated by the sender. For this, PGP uses a hybrid cryptosystem by combining symmetric-key encryption and public-key encryption. PGP can be used to send messages confidentially. Therefore, it is essential that partners in PGP communication understand each other's capabilities or at least agree on PGP settings. Compatibility Īs PGP evolves, versions that support newer features and algorithms can create encrypted messages that older PGP systems cannot decrypt, even with a valid private key. A fingerprint like C3A6 5E46 7B54 77DF 3C4C 9790 4D22 B3CA 5B32 FF66 can be printed on a business card. From a fingerprint, someone can validate the correct corresponding public key. Current versions of PGP encryption include options through an automated key management server.Ī public key fingerprint is a shorter version of a public key. ![]() The first version of this system was generally known as a web of trust to contrast with the X.509 system, which uses a hierarchical approach based on certificate authority and which was added to PGP implementations later. Each public key is bound to a username or an e-mail address. This includes hacking, using a loophole, or other methods not publicly advertised by the usenet provider.PGP encryption uses a serial combination of hashing, data compression, symmetric-key cryptography, and finally public-key cryptography each step uses one of several supported algorithms. If that’s the case, we recommend Audacity software. The PS-HX500 and Audio Technica AT-LP5 vinyl-ripping decks do their best to buck that trend – the former rips vinyl into hi-res audio files, for instance.īut what if you already have a turntable? Then the best option is to buy a decent USB phono stage. Simply put, your recordings won’t necessarily reflect the quality of sound possible from your records. The downside is: most tend to be at the budget end of the market and concentrate merely on getting the job done rather than doing it particularly well. Usually referred to as USB turntables, these are a convenient way to get music on vinyl into your computer. There are many turntables on the market with a phono stage, analogue-to-digital converter and USB output built in – the Sony PS-HX500, for instance. I truly don't believe it is possible to capture an LP via another medium and absolutely not be able to tell a difference between the old and the new, even if those differences only amount to a 0.1% difference but maybe my ears are just shot.It seems complex, but the system can be simplified. If one works for Telarc or Linn making super high resolution recordings of live performances, I can see going with a multi-thousand dollar ADC, but to transfer an existing recording that has already been processed through necessarily limited devices and stages? I see what you are saying or striving for in terms of a better ADC, but you aren't capturing a live performance. Mini disk and CDRs may have a 'direct to deliverable' advantage, but I can't see a clear advantage, assuming all high quality connections and connection types. I still can't see how a high quality recorder will be bested. It also would seem that, most likely, the most simple device would have a general upper hand. If ultimate quality is the primary goal, it seems that you'd strike any method that uses a physical media directly so no tape, no mini disk, no CD. ![]() Even in the podcasting world the pros recommend recorders over computers because you only get one chance to record an interview. Others with really high end devices such as the Prism Lyra.Īs for reliability I completely understand the recorder is preferred to a crashing computer. Many of them were recorded with older internal soundcards which were made popular by the gamers. I've also heard other people's needledrops that sound fantastic. I can't help but wonder what that same crowd would think of a $100 device. At another show they used a much cheaper RME Babyface ($700) and claimed that even though they could hear the difference, the crowd not so much. What I do know is that I read an article on the RMAF where Pure Vinyl was demonstrating live playback of a turntable vs the Hilo ($2500) and most folks could not distinguish them. I'm not denying that at some point between the budget ADC and the megabuck one I will hit the limit of my hearing to distinguish them but where is that? Sure I understand that the DAC introduces it's own flavor upon playback of the file but when I can hear the difference between two different budget ADCs through two different DACs then I know the ADC is the limiting factor. I appreciate your thoughts Poinzy and I do get your point but I can indeed hear a difference between the live playback of the TT and what the budget ADC is capturing. ![]() New South Wales is the most populous state and has four CSCs which provide 24/7 EVT service to all local health districts and specialty networks.
